about

This song is inspired by Wet'suwet'en resistance to the Coastal Gaslink pipeline project in the settler-colonial nation state known as Canada. It is also inspired by worldwide Indigenous and anti-colonial resistance in general, such as the Zapatistas in Chiapas, Mexico.

The title comes from a slogan used by the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement and related projects like Cooperation Jackson, a slogan that we think is fitting for this topic.

lyrics

Harvest greed
Through the
Unceded Territory

Red Dresses
To remind
Oppressors of their crimes

Cognitive dissonance
In their venal system
Fosters a blind eye to
Genocidal symptoms

Free the Land

No industry
Given precedence
Over human rights
